Based on historical recollections, this tank top depicts the greatest actress ever on a stage, Miss Sarah Bernhardt. Printed in the USA on imported Black 100% cotton. The cream print is highlighted with iridescent glitter on the main figures. Machine wash cold, inside out on gentle cycle, Tumble dry low. Scoop neck and wide banded shoulder/arm holes. Body of shirt is a slight swing-flare, not a tight fit.
"My personal favorite is Sarah Bernhardt lying in a coffin. That was something Bernhardt actually did from time to time, allowing the press to photograph her; and she said it helped her get into the proper mood for her tragic roles on the stage. I like the shaft of light running diagonally across the shirt. The light is coming from a stained-glass window; I wanted the figure in the window to be Bernhardt too, if possible, and then I found a photo of her as Hamlet holding a skull! What better figure for a dark design like this one! It worked out perfectly." Artist and creator at The Mighty Squirm, Thea Saks.
--Sarah Bernhardt --the famous French actress -- died March 26, 1923, in Paris. She was 78. She has a star on the Hollywood Star Walk. In 2005, the Los Angeles Times wrote: "[She] performed on stages all over the world, including four 'farewell' tours of America, made eight films and endorsed face cream, cars and Bronx real estate. Incomparably famous for the 60 years she was on stage and screen, she saw life as one long photo op and enthusiastically pioneered the cult of celebrity."--
